The French Quarter fest in Square

By in French Quarter, Music

This past weekend was the frenchquarter fest. Lots of people, lots of music. lots of square pictures.

Steve & Daniele who play gypsy jazz.  And in true gypsy jazz style Daniele plays the same guitar as Django Reinhardt and sites him as one of his main influences. These two mimes invited us to stay at their bunkhouse in the bywater.  They were very serious.  I give out my card to just about anybody and everybody.  But these I didn’t.  They were kind of scary.

Oh the mimes…I just can’t get over that chick telling us, “I’m off to get high.” Wow!

Joe. Good call on not fraternizing with the mimes! They are the subject of a documentary called ‘Kamp Katrina’ where they let people camp out in their Bywater backyard after the storm. By “documentary” – I mean crappy movie and by “people” – I mean crackheads. Whew! You guys did good staying away from them!!

No kidding! I didn’t know all that, but at the same time, I definitely had that I-don’t-want-to-talk-to-you-anymore feeling. They were way out there. And a little scary.
