about me
about this blog.
During the end of 2008, I landed myself in the world of photography. I discovered it as a result of the long-seated passion of my Dad, who has been a photographer since college. After a few months, and many, many pictures later, I started this blog. It has assumed different forms and philosophies (and even names), but the consistent thread throughout it all has been me.
When I started it, I was opposed to using words. It was a photography blog. ‘nough said.
But then I moved on to occasionally writing short excerpts to provide context for the images I’d post. After a while, I’d come to accept entire blog posts of words and no pictures. In my view, regardless of the media I use, I find a great pleasure in telling stories. That’s the “me” that has been here from the beginning.
how I learned…
Granted, some reading this might debate the word “learned,” and, yeah, I’d probably agree with you. But nevertheless, I do make progress from time to time. I like to think I leave myself plenty of room for, uhh, growth. [sigh]
Anyway, back to the story. I learned photography from taking pictures with my camera. Lots of pictures. I studied as much as I could about the dynamics of my camera, everything involved in making an exposure, and then the artform of photography, itself. All this I got from books, Google, and YouTube. But mainly Google and YouTube. As it is with learning to master any skill, the principle component is practice.
Because of the way I learned photography, and the well-rounded generosity of the photographic community, I like to give as much transparency as I can to my pictures. In this same spirit, I’ve created a “Just for Photographers” category where I talk about exposures, light set-ups and all that tech stuff. You can find it by scrolling down the right-hand side of my blog and selecting it in the Categories drop-down menu. This drop-down menu will also let you view all of my previous posts by specific category.
what’s up now.
I will continue to change the layout and visuals of my blog. I will continue to start new projects and throw away old, stale ones. I will continue to talk about and photograph the most important things to me. But more than all that, I will continue to be the most energized by hearing that you liked it.
Because when it’s all said and done. I don’t have a blog to write stories to myself.
I have a blog to share with you.
Not sure how to contact you so I left you a comment.
I’ve added you to the blogroll on my blog. I figured it was only fitting since you comment on it often. :-)
oh yeah, now that I’m looking, I don’t really have a clear “contact”. Thanks! I’ll fix that.
